Francisco Javier Martínez

Francisco Javier Martínez (Zaragoza, Spain, 1973) is currently Associate Professor at the Universidad de Zaragoza (Spain). He obtained his PhD in medical history at the Universidad Autónoma of Barcelona. He has worked as researcher at the CCHS-CSIC of Madrid, the Centre Jacques Berque of Rabat, the University of Bergen, the Laboratoire SPHERE, CNRS-Université Paris Diderot, the Fondation IMERA of Aix-Marseille University and the CIDEHUS, Universidade de Évora.

His topics of research include medicine, health and humanitarian action in Morocco, Cuba and the Philippines (19th-20th centuries), scientific modernization in pre-colonial Morocco (1873-1912) and the biographies and writings of Spanish travelers to the Arab-Islamic world (19th century).
